Snufkin is a character in the much-loved Moomin books, by Finnish author Tove Jansson. He is, in the words of the author, "A solitary chap, young Snufkin. Quite unlike his father, but with the same independent outlook on life." Snufkin is the son of the Mymble and the Joxter, and he is half-brother to the Mymble's daughter and Little My. He appears in the books Comet in Moominland, Finn Family Moomintroll, Tales from Moominvalley, The Exploits of Moominpappa Moominsummer Madness, and Moominvalley in November, and is mentioned in Moominland Midwinter. Why do I think him the best character in the Moomin books? Mostly because of the short stories in Tales from Moominvalley: Spring Time and The Last Dragon in the World. He is carefree and footloose, and happy. Oh, just read the books.
